🌱How to plant seeds
Step 2: Sowing in the soil
Sow seeds about 2–3 cm deep, 30–40 cm apart, with 1–1.5 m (3–5 ft) between rows. Watermelon plants need full sunlight (6–8 hours a day) and thrive in temperatures between 25–40°C (77–104°F).
Step 1: Treat the seeds
Choose loose, well-drained soil, add compost or manure to enrich the soil. Soak in warm water for 4–6 hours to help them germinate faster.
Step 3: Care for the Plants
Water regularly, ensuring the soil doesn’t become waterlogged. Fertilize with NPK fertilizer after 2 weeks, and use potassium-based fertilizers as the fruits begin to form. Prune old leaves and check for pests or diseases, applying organic solutions if needed.
Step 4: Harvest and Enjoy
Harvest after 35–50 days when the fruit is a bright yellow color, the stem is slightly dry, and it sounds hollow when tapped. Yellow watermelon can be eaten immediately, made into smoothies, or used as a refreshing gift. Keep it in the fridge to prolong freshness.
